CREATES NEW SECTION TO FIGHT
THE THEFT OF RECREATIONAL VEHICLES

The
RCMP in BC has created a new section to combat what
it calls an epidemic of RV, campers, boat, snowmobile,
and all-terrain vehicle thefts.
RCMP
Chief Superintendent, Earl Moulton said some insurance
companies now refuse to offer coverage on the
recreation vehicles because of the high theft
rate. Other insurance companies have raised premiums
in response to the thefts, making the purchase
of insurance prohibitive to many people.
Moulton
said the new RCMP section, called the Recreational
Products Theft Section, is headed by Constable
Larry Burden of Chilliwack. Burden was named "Investigator
of the Year in 2001" by the International
Association of Marine Investigators.
